Desert Heroines 2023
Las Cruces and Doña Ana County –
Join the Success Partnership and NMCO Studio at the Doña Ana Arts Council Gallery on March 11th as we view stunning photos and talk to extraordinary women working to level the playing field in our community. Women do incredible things every day to better our community, who don’t often get the acknowledgment they deserve because their work occurs behind the scenes. It’s an incredible honor for Ngage and the Success Partnership team to help shine a light on these extraordinary women”) tells Lori Martinez, Executive Director of Ngage New Mexico.
This year’s Women’s History Month theme is “Women who tell our stories.” With this guiding theme, you nominated colleagues, friends, mentors, and neighbors who use their unique abilities, experience, and position to uplift the voices of marginalized groups and individuals. The Success Partnership collected nominations and highlighted nominees’ stories and contributions via social media throughout February. As in years past, the project wrapped with a stylized photo shoot from NMCO and other partners. This year, however, the crescendo is a gallery reception, showcasing the portraits and discussing the Heroine’s experiences with the production and their work in the community.
Tina Ballew, Founder, and Creative Director for NMCO Studio, who will be moderating the panel, shares, “I’m excited to connect with these remarkable women and offer a space for them at this reception to share their hard work in the community.” Tina added that last year’s Heroine project recently won a Gold ADDY Award! (As if you needed another reason to check it out.) View past Heroine Projects at www.desertheroines.com.
This will be a family-friendly event! We encourage everyone to view the portraits, meet our Heroines, and check out the other Women’s History Month themed artwork on display. The reception is from 2-5 pm on Saturday, March 11th, and the discussion will occur at 2:30 pm.
